How To Make Samosa

Samosa is a snack widely known around the world. It can be served with all types of drinks and alongside most types of food, samosa can be served as an appetizer dish which is also known by the name a starter dish in Britain. Samosa is commonly served in African and Indian traditional weddings. This snack is also commonly made by Chinese people which also has its roots from Asia, that is the region it originated from. Samosa compromises of these ingredients: flour, vegetable oil, water, salt,  minced meat, potatoes, chopped onions, powdered or chopped ginger,  powdered or chopped pepper, peas, cumin seeds and turmeric powder or curry.


Health benefits


Samosa has a lot of protein because of the minced meat, pepper, etc. the fact is that all the ingredients in samosa contain a quantity of protein in them. Curry contains a lot of vitamins A, B, C, and E in it, amino acid, plant sterols, iron, calcium, magnesium, fiber, and the list goes on. Peas contain vitamin B-12, B-6, vitamin A, C, and D, sodium, potassium, etc.  Potatoes contain calcium, iron and so many other nutrients. These all have a lot of health benefits. The protein will help in repairing your tissue cells, while the calcium is used for stronger bones etc.

 The disadvantage is that they all have cholesterol but if prepared well you can avoid a lot of cholesterol, the body also needs some cholesterol in it. so when prepared well its more of an advantage, not a disadvantage. The way to prepare it well is simple, all you need to do is to put it in an oven rather than frying it and avoid using a lot of salt.


The process of making Samosa


Pour your flour into a bowl add a little salt to taste then pour a little oil and mix with your hands until a dough is formed. Add about four to five spoons of water and mix well then you can allow the dough to rest for about 25 minutes. Peel, cut then boil your potatoes when it is boiled you can either cut them into small sizes or mash them. the next part is the filling.


The fillings


Heat a little oil in a saucepan, add some of your cumin seeds and heat it up in your saucepan for flavor. Add your chopped onions and garlic, also add your minced meat and stir. Then you can add your potatoes (that you cooked earlier) and peas note the peas are optional. Mix it together and serve in a bowl, this will be the fillings for the samosa.

The next part is the making of the dough. Cut out your dough into small pieces and shape into circular forms, do this to all the pieces of dough you cut out. Divide each dough with a knife into two equal halves, give it that corn shape, then stuff it with your fillings, make sure to fold the end of the dough (the round open part of the dough). Pour oil into your pan and heat a little then Fry your samosas. make sure to turn over the cooked part of your samosa for the other side to fry. Remove serve into a towel paper before serving into a dish, in order to remove the oil.

Note, some of the ingredients are optional, that is why it is not included in the above process This can also be made using an oven. ENJOY
