Taiwan has announced fully funded scholarships for international students

The Ministry of Education (MOE) in Taiwan has announced fully funded scholarships for international students for the year 2024, providing an exceptional opportunity for individuals seeking to pursue Bachelor’s, Master’s, or Ph.D. programs at public universities in Taiwan. Successful applicants will benefit from a monthly stipend exceeding NT$25,000, along with coverage for tuition fees, medical expenses, and residential costs.

The scholarship scheme encompasses a range of provisions tailored to support students throughout their academic journey. Bachelor’s degree students will receive an additional NT$15,000 stipend, while Master’s and Ph.D. students can expect around NT$20,000. Furthermore, the scholarships extend up to four years for undergraduate and Ph.D. students, and up to two years for Master’s students, subject to an annual review process to ensure continued eligibility.

To initiate the application process, candidates are required to seek admission directly from one of the designated Taiwanese universities, which include National Taiwan University, National Cheng Kung University, National Taipei University, National Tsing Hua University, National Chung Cheng University, and National Chung Hsing University. While each university maintains its unique admission criteria and deadlines, common application documents typically include two recommendation letters, a well-crafted research proposal or study plan, transcripts or degree certificates from previous academic endeavors, the MOE scholarship application form, a valid passport, and a language proficiency certificate.

Applicants have the flexibility to choose between two avenues for applying for MOE Taiwan scholarships: through the MOE or the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MOFA). In the event that candidates receive multiple offers from different universities, they are expected to make a selection and commit to their chosen institution. Upon selection, successful candidates are anticipated to commence their studies in Taiwan in September, aligning with the academic calendar of Taiwanese universities.

This scholarship opportunity serves as a testament to Taiwan’s commitment to fostering international cooperation and academic exchange. By welcoming talented individuals from diverse backgrounds, Taiwan aims to enrich its academic landscape and contribute to global knowledge-sharing and innovation. With its robust scholarship program, the MOE reaffirms Taiwan’s position as a hub for educational excellence and a premier destination for international students seeking to pursue higher education in Asia.

Aspiring scholars interested in availing themselves of this remarkable opportunity are encouraged to diligently prepare their application materials and adhere to the deadlines set by their chosen universities. The MOE Taiwan scholarships offer not only financial support but also invaluable opportunities for personal and academic growth, paving the way for a bright and promising future for recipients.
